When a veterinarian dog owner is also in for a big surprise – The story of Norma

‘I found Norma in late September 2009 at the Normafa, the ‘Norma tree’ in Buda Hills (this is where she got her name from). At that she was in a rather exasperating physical and psychic condition: the left side of her skull must have received a terrible blow or cut, as a result of which the tissues were injured deep down to the gingiva, which was well visible from the enormous scar crossing the puppy’s head. In addition, there were burn traces on her fur, she was horribly thin and thirsty, and was nothing more than four long, bony legs, two wonderful brown eyes, and a whole swarm of fleas.’

Dragon on his way to recovery

The almost entirely hairless male dog, which then did not even have a name, was rescued from the street in Törökszentmiklós by the Befogad-Lak [‘I Make a Home for You’] Animal Welfare Foundation, from where he was taken into the care of Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter Foundation. In vain did his founders look for a microchip in the dog, although he must certainly have had an owner, even if not a loving master.

Farki’s rapid recovery

Farki (‘Little Tail’) received his name after his short tail chump; his tail must have been bitten off by a dog or some other predator, or perhaps he was injured in a trap.

Together with several other kittens, he was found at the edge of a plough-land: those who put them there, simply left the kittens to their fate. The kittens were rescued by the volunteers of Cat World Foundation from there. They were taken to a veterinarian as soon as possible, where they were examined and then given a full ectoparasiticide and endoparasiticide treatment.

Sweater is making progress

The call for help came from the ‘Paw in Hand’ Dog Rescue Foundation in Kiskunhalas that an almost entirely bald puppy was thrown into the yard of an old lady. The puppy needed immediate help, and the Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter Foundation said yes – as it almost always does. At the time when he was found, little Sweater [Szvetter] – as this was the name given to the puppy – could be about half a year old. The hairs had fallen out from almost the entire body of the dog, his body was hot and his skin inflamed.
